Ladies Trip To San Francisco
Posted on September 28 2008

The ladies were off to San Francisco yesterday. We talked about this at our last potluck. I was hesitant to go because Casey has fever for 2 days before the ladies day Trip to SF. But on Friday she didn’t have fever and we let her go to school since she missed 2 days of school. She was cooperating and that made me decide that I’m going to San Francisco with the ladies. I was thinking this might be my chance to go out and enjoy with just the ladies while Chris is not working yet, so I have to take advantage of this.

We got to San Francisco about noon. First we went to Daly City to drop off Loida’s parents. Daly City is one of only a few major-Asian cities in the continental United States. The city is known for its large Filipino American with a population of 103,621 (as of 2000). I didn’t know this until Loida told us about it. She used to live there and according to her, you didn’t have to have a car to get to the places she wanted. My eyes were busy watching the city and I agreed with loida. The stores are just close to each other and the Bart station is close by for walking to. Anyway, we went to Bart to wait for Niah. Her husband, Peter, dropped her off of Bart just so she can join us. She made it from Colorado to here to celebrate our Freedom (Ladies-day off)

Everyone got hungry and dying to eat rice (Lol) So, to make sure there is rice, we decided to go to Jollibee! Jollibee is a fast-food restaurant chain based in the Philippines. It is an American-style fast-food restaurant with Filipino-influenced dishes specializing in burgers, spaghetti, chicken and some local Filipino dishes. I enjoy Jollibee more than Mc Donald. Their chicken is “Finger lickin’ good”. We had rice, a bucket of chicken, palabok, peach-mango pie...hmm. yum-o!

And now that we satisfied our tummy's cravings, we’re on our way to Loida’s itinerary plans. There were a few places we went to- amongst those was the golden gate, Lombard Street. I’ve been wanting to see Lombard and am so glad Loida included Lombard in her itinerary. Lombard Street is best known for the one way section on Russian Hill between Hyde and Leavenworth Streets, in which the roadway has eight sharp turns (or switchbacks) that have earned the street the distinction of being "the crookedest (most winding) street in world. Yes we drove to Lombard street, the part that is very steep road and thought I’m going to have heart attack! Everyone was screaming. And Loida mentioned it was her first time to drive Lombard Street. We'd rather that we didn't want to know that, to keep us calm and relax :)

We went to Coit Tower, Marine Vista point and the last one was the Ghirardelli square. This is the only place I requested Loida to bring me. I like Ghirardelli and really wanted to visit the store. Ghirardelli Square is a tourist attraction with shops and restaurants in the Fisherman's Wharf area of San Francisco, California. When you get into the store, they give you a sample of chocolate and we savor every taste of Ghirardelli chocolate.

We had so much fun, I feel like teenager. The loud music, the laughing, dancing, screaming, waving at people (men), it seemed liked we own the city. I'm assuming people think we're drunk, but we're not. Nobody's drinking, this is just pure fun. We just enjoying to the max, like there no tomorrow. We were enjoying our day-off as maid? Is that what you call it ladies? LOL

We had dinner at Cafe Eight after looking around which restaurant we want. Some restaurant’s we went to, need reservations and some we have to wait 2 hours. We really didn't want to wait that long. The time is running so fast. At that time it was 10pm. Time flies really when you are having fun. At Cafe Eight, I had a bowl of clam chowder soup and hot chocolate. I was cold and thought soup is a good remedy. It helped though. This is my first time to have clam chowder. and they seemed surprise when I told them. According to them, clam chowder is an American favorite soup and I didn't know that. The clam chowder at Cafe Eight is good but a bit salty for me, but their mocha is really so good!

We feel a bit exhausted after Ghirardelli and decided to go home but we have to go Hayward to drop off Niah and then we headed to Sacramento. Thank you Violet for bringing me home. When I got home, my clock says it is 2:07am. I didn’t expect to be home at 2am, my expectation was to be home by 9pm, at the latest. Anyway, I had so much fun. And now this morning my daughter Casey told me, she won't let me go without her and her daddy. Oh uh, am I in trouble? Thank you Ladies! And ladies, don’t forget, what happened in SF, stays in SF. The New Professional Kayakers for 2008
Posted on September 23 2008

Presenting the new Professional kayakers group 2008! Thank you Rodney & Ena for this great opportunity. We're glad we did the kayaking. This is my first time to do kayaking, scary but I had fun. Ok as promised, here's the photos of us do kayaking.

Potluck: Hosted by Rodney & Ena
Posted on September 22 2008

Yahoo! summer is over. Autumn is here. I love autumn because I enjoy seeing the leaves changing into golden colors and falling on to the ground. And pretty soon the weather will be cold, wind will be breezy, and leaves everywhere. The trees will be more scenic. I love it! Anyway, we were off to the Sacramento aquatic center for our monthly potluck gatherings, hosted by Rodney & Ena.

The September potluck was different than the previous potlucks we had. This is not just all about food/eats but I'd say a bit adventurous. The host of this months potluck encouraged the couples to join them and try kayaking. Rodney & Ena were kind enough to give each couples the opportunity to do an hour free kayaking. I'd say this was a really awesome idea. I know I was screaming a lot during the kayaking but I had fun. I won't forget this event. This means a lot to me. I couldn't believe I had the courage to try this, knowing that I don't know how to swim. To be honest this scares me to death! Chris moves a lot that made me scared more and scream.

Thank you Rodney & Ena for giving us this great opportunity to try the kayaking. You guys are awesome. But I'm not sure if I'll do it again. Once is enough I guess. I had so much fun and at the same time scared...hey we made it!
I'll post the picture of Chris and I do kayaking, as soon as Ena send us the copy. To the newly couple, Nice meeting you! We hope to see you guys on our next potluck! View photos

Back To School
Posted on September 17 2008

Casey goes back to school again. She started today. The school starts at 8:15 and ends 11:15 Monday to Friday. Casey was very excited, she was feeling nostalgic. She had her backpack ready last night as her usual routine back when she was in school. And she was saying she’s going to put her jacket and her backpack in the cubby and meet her Ma’am Mia. We told her, this is different school she is going to. So, she won’t be able to see her Ma’am Mia.

This time, Casey will be at Riverview Elementary School right here in Rancho Cordova. It took 5 minutes drive to get there. We told Casey she'll be going to the same school where Raven (a neighbor) goes. Mentioning Raven’s name gladdens her.

We’re so happy that Casey is back to school again, we know she loves going to school. And now that she’s back to school, she must get up early again for school and that means I too must get up early as well. And I have 2 days or more per month to volunteer at the River view school. I guess my soap opera can wait until after Casey’s school.J

Needle versus Band-aid
Posted on September 15 2008

Casey had an appointment last Friday for TB test, one of the requirements for her to get into pre-school. When we got to the doctor's office, the nurse showed to Casey the needle but it seemed like it didn’t bother her at all. The moment the nurse stick the needle on Casey's left arm, Casey didn't even cry. She just said, hurts but she's sit still. Casey's not afraid to the needle but she's terrified of band-aids. It's hard for us to put band-aid on her. I'd rather go with the band-aid than needle.J

Just like last week, she and her daddy went out to get the mail and she was running and she fell down and got boo-boo. I am trying to put band-aid on but she didn't let us. We'll just have to do the trick. Actually Casey loves band-aid; she wears it like bracelet tattoo especially if you have that kind of band-aid that has design like Ariel, hello kitty or Dora. She loves character band-aid. For Casey, it's her tattoo.

Oh just dawned on me on our trip to Philippines, I put like 4 character band-aid on her and when we landed to Manila and my sisters saw all the band-aids, they got terrified, when the moment they saw all the band-aids on Casey and they asked, what happened to Casey? I told them, oh Casey is fine and it just her tattoo. It's Casey's fashion accessories. The problem is with this character band- aid, it's hard to come off especially when it stays too long and it hurts her when we tried to take the band-aid off. Since then she didn't like the band-aid anymore. Some of the band-aids with the design are easy to come off though, but the last she had was hard to come off and I'm kind of upset because it leave marks on Casey's skin.

One thing that I hated is to see any marks on Casey's skin. Anyway Casey loves going to the doctor. She’s always excited if we tell her, she's going to see the doctor. She's happy because she's going to see her friend doctor Walsh. We’re glad that we don't have problem when it comes to this. I hear some parents that their kids scared to see the doctor. I'm glad Casey loves to see Doctor but the problem here is, when she just coughs or cold, she wants to see Doctor right away.

Hopefully Casey will be back to pre-school again soon. She’s excited about it. We just need the paperwork done etc.

Free Footprints for Toddlers
Posted on September 14 2008

We were off to ‘Color Me Mine’ today. We made a reservation for Casey 4 days ago. Due to their limited space, they highly recommend reservations so, we signed up for 12 noon. We got there at the right time 11:50am.

This is free event each child got to stamp their footprints onto an 8" plate. At first Casey got her name tag and then one of their staff did the stamping of Casey’s footprint. I thought its Casey will be the one that will do the embellishments on the plate and we’ll just watch her but its parent’s participation. While the parents do the embellishments, the color-me-mine staff will entertain the kids.

Doing the painting is a lot of fun, but frankly we’re not into this and neither of Chris or I are into art. Anyway, this is completely free and have 1 hour to be away from home. Casey had fun and of course she made a big mess of the paint even though she got pink balloon in which she had been waiting for. This is our first time to be in the ‘Color Me Mine’ store, seems neat and fun!

Meet Casey's New Friend
Posted on September 13 2008

This is Casey and her new buddy, Raven. I'm glad Casey has a friend now that close to where we live. Actually her grandfather and grandmother are in the same building where we are. So we're neighbors.

I'm so glad Raven is now lives with her grandma and her mother and Casey met Raven and they seems they both get a long just fine. She invited Casey to her 8th birthday today and of course we had wonderful time on her birthday and we got chance to meet the rest of her family too.

It's really awesome to have lots of friends...Click the images to view larger. Thanks!
